Grab and WeRide to Launch Singapore’s First Autonomous Shuttle Service by 2026
Singapore is set to debut its first consumer-facing autonomous shuttle service, Ai.R, in Punggol by early 2026. The joint venture between Grab and WeRide will deploy a fleet of 11 self-driving vehicles, including five-seater GXR and eight-seater Robobus models, initially operated with safety drivers. Passengers can access live tracking and support services via the Grab app, with insurance coverage provided.
The initiative, backed by Singapore's Land Transport Authority, marks a strategic push into driverless mobility solutions. WeRide's vehicles have already cleared the country's rigorous Milestone 1 safety assessment. This pilot program serves as a precursor to broader plans for robotaxi deployment across Southeast Asia.
